I can't log into my Mobiscope account after website update.
If you purchased a subscription to Mobiscope earlier than March 20 2014, you are subscribed to Mobiscope Local service, as opposed to Mobiscope Cloud service which was released on March 20 2014. Mobiscope Local remains fully-functional, however it was moved to a new address: https://local.mobiscope.com. Please update Mobiscope bookmark in your browser and sorry for any inconvenience.
What is Mobiscope Cloud?
Mobiscope Cloud is a cloud-based video surveillance solution for home and small businesses. Video streams from IP cameras are stored and processed in the cloud. Mobile and web apps provide access to live streams and video recordings, push motion detection notifications and detect outages. iOS, Android and Web platforms are supported.
Why do I need it?
If you have something you want to keep an eye on while you’re away - but you don’t want to buy expensive and bulky CCTV equipment or service. You can just have one of these modern IP cameras, set it up to work with Mobiscope and you’ll have realtime access to your camera anytime, anywhere.
What do I need to get started?
Make sure you have all of these:
- Wired or wireless IP-camera supporting RTSP protocol and (preferably) with H.264 video codec, however ASF, MPEG2 or MPEG4 codecs are also supported.Older FTP upload-based cameras are also OK, if you can cope with relatively low frames-per-second ratio.
- Camera should be located in a network with 256 Kbps or faster upload speed to Internet.
- Setup your camera as described in Quick Start/User Manual guide.
It is recommended (though may be not required in many cases) to arrange a port forwarding on your router to port 554 on camera's IP address. Your camera Setup Guide may contain instructions on that. You may also want to register a domain name for your camera at dynamic DNS service (noip.com, dyn.com). Note: this step can be optional if you have a modern IP camera and a modern Internet router.
- Android device running on Android OS 2.3 “Gingerbread” or newer. Android OS 4 or higher is recommended.
How do I know if my camera supports protocol RTSP and codec h.264?
This information can be found in technical specifications or documentation brochure that came with your camera or on camera manufacturer’s website. Usually H.264 is mentioned somewhere on camera packaging. If unsure, ask us - we'll try to help.
I don't have an IP-camera. Which one would you recommend to me?
We tested IP cameras of leading manufacturers with Mobiscope to make this list of supported cameras for you. The best experience we have is with cameras manufactured by Axis. You can find a local reseller at Axis official website. Make sure to purchase one with h.264 support, for example Axis M1034-W.
How to set up my IP-camera?
Generally you'd want to set up your camera as per Quick Start guide included in the box with the camera. Usually the process includes a few simple steps:
- Connect your IP-camera to your local network with a cable or via WiFi (please see detailed instructions in the technical documentation that came with your camera). You may need to run a special camera location utility from accompanying CD or manufacturer’s website.
- Run Internet browser on a computer connected to your local network and type IP-address of your network camera into address field. Web administration interface with your IP-camera settings will appear.
- Set up public (external) IP address or use Dynamic DNS service (i.e.: noip.com, dyn.com).
- We recommend to set video resolution at 640x480, 25/30 FPS, H.264 compression.
How do I connect my IP-camera to Mobiscope Cloud?
Launch Mobiscope Cloud on your Android and sign up. When you're in, tap on Add Camera button. Mobiscope will automatically detect cameras on your local network. Tap on a camera to add it.
My IP-camera is on, however Mobiscope can't find it.
Make sure all of these are true:
- Your camera is connected to your local network, and you’ve completed the camera setup procedure.
- Your Android device is connected to the same local network as the IP-camera.
Mobiscope finds my IP-camera, but can't connect to it.
Try the following:
- Check your firewall settings (port forwarding) on your router and make sure it’s forwarding incoming requests to port 554 to your camera IP address.
- Make sure your camera is accessible from the Internet. Run Internet browser on your computer and type IP-address or Dynamic DNS-name of your IP-camera into the address field. If everything is OK, web administration interface with your IP-camera settings will appear.
I see video stream from my camera, but it's slow/laggy.
We recommend to set video quality to "Normal" in camera settings, which usually corresponds to 640x480 resolution, 25-30 FPS rate and H.264 codec. "Best" or "Perfect" settings may cause the stream to be laggy. This recommendation applies to any supported camera, however it's crucial with D-Link cameras.
My IP-camera worked fine, then suddenly stopped working.
This means that at some point Mobiscope was no longer able to connect to the IP address/hostname and port you provided.
Try the following:
- Check your firewall settings (port forwarding) on your router and make sure it’s not blocking incoming requests to port 554.
- Make sure that your camera still has the same IP address it had when you set it up. If its IP address changed, set a fixed public (external) IP address or use Dynamic DNS service (for ex.: noip.com, dyn.com).
- Make sure your camera is accessible from the Internet. Run Internet browser on your computer and type IP address or Dynamic DNS-name of your IP-camera into the address field. If everything is OK, web administration interface with your IP-camera settings will appear.
I still can't figure how to get it working.

Can I use your service without public (external) IP on my IP-camera?
Some cameras will you set them up in FTP mode. It means camera will upload snapshots every 1/3/5 seconds to an FTP server - in this case, to Mobiscope service. You can then work with these snapshots like with usual low-FPS video streams.
There are two ways to properly configure FTP connection:
- Automatic configuration: Mobiscope app will try to configure the camera itself
- If automatic configuration is unsuccessful, Mobiscope app will display settings for manual configuration of your camera. Configure your camera manually according to these settings and then tap Add Camera in Mobiscope
I'm not able to connect to my Foscam camera
- Make sure you have set a password for your Foscam camera. By default, password on Foscam cameras is blank and connection is prohibited unless password is set.
- Foscam cameras are sensitive to the number of simultaneous connections to them. The lower this number is, the better is the experience you may have.
